About ROI-AI

ROI-AI builds an AI workforce for the wholesale and distribution back office. Our AI agent, "Roy," automates retailer chargeback and deduction disputes end to end. Roy is live in production today, recovering real revenue for wholesalers across dozens of retailers.

About the Role

This is our priority delivery hire. As a Forward-Deployed Engineer you take a new customer from signed contract to Roy live and disputing, and you own that account's technical delivery until it is healthy. You are the human who goes into a real wholesaler's messy reality, their ERP, their mailboxes, their retailer portals, their documents, and makes our AI work on it.

You are augmented by internal tooling that automates the repetitive parts of setup, so your time goes to the judgment and the hard integrations, not the busywork.

This is a blend of engineering and customer-facing implementation. One hour you are debugging a SQL connection to an ERP or chasing a mailbox token, the next you are on a call with a customer's AR team confirming which retailer portals and documents we need. You need to be equally comfortable in both.

Responsibilities

  • Own onboarding end to end: Take a signed customer live: provision their org, configure per-retailer settings, connect their ERP, mailboxes, and retailer portals, and get Roy live and disputing for the account.
  • Wire up the data and evidence: Set up document and record intake (POs, invoices, BOLs / proof of delivery, ASNs, remittance, chargeback notices) from ERPs, mailboxes, and portals, and confirm the evidence Roy needs is flowing and complete.
  • Handle the messy integrations: ERP database access (SQL Server / NetSuite / Dynamics and others), mailbox intake, portal access and credentials, EDI feeds. Diagnose and fix what breaks.
  • Own pilot health and recovery: Be the technical owner of the account through the pilot: watch throughput, confirm Roy's disputes are landing, and drive the account to real recovery before the window lapses.
  • Be the customer's technical point of contact: Translate their operational reality into configuration and, where needed, into clean engineering tickets for the core team.
  • Improve the delivery system: Feed recurring friction and evidence gaps back as root-cause fixes, and help make each new customer faster to onboard than the last.

Must-Haves

  • 4+ years of software engineering, with real customer-facing or deployment experience (forward-deployed, implementation, solutions, or integration engineering)
  • Strong Python and SQL. Comfortable with APIs, relational databases, and moving data between systems that were never meant to talk
  • Proven ability to integrate software into a customer's existing systems and messy real-world data
  • Excellent communication. You can sit with a customer's finance or operations team and also debug a broken connection, and switch between the two without friction
  • Self-directed and high-ownership. You thrive in ambiguity, move fast with little process, and treat a customer going live as your personal responsibility
  • Willing to travel to customer sites as needed

Nice to Have

  • Wholesale, distribution, retail, supply-chain, or ERP domain experience (NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar)
  • Familiarity with EDI document types (850, 810, 856, 855, 820), chargebacks, and deductions
  • Experience with agentic AI / LLM-powered tooling
  • A prior forward-deployed or first-implementation-engineer role at an early-stage startup
